Kat Dennings Forgets She's a Marvel Star During Disneyland Visit
Kat Dennings Forgets She's a Marvel Star at Disneyland

Kat Dennings, known for her role as Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared a humorous anecdote about forgetting her own fame during a family trip to Disneyland. Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the actress recounted how she mistook fan recognition for general friendliness until her husband, musician Andrew W.K., reminded her of her place in the MCU.

Forgotten Fame at Avengers Campus

Dennings explained that while visiting Avengers Campus at Disneyland with her husband and stepchildren, she noticed people waving at her. Believing it was simply the cheerful atmosphere of the "happiest place on Earth," she happily waved back. "Everyone is so friendly. Everyone is in the best mood because it's the happiest place on Earth," she recalled thinking.

It was only after her husband asked, "Are you okay?" that the realization struck. "Oh my god, I'm in these movies! I forgot!" Dennings said. "I completely forgot that I was like part of the Marvel universe and that people were waving at me."

Unintentional Costume

The actress further noted that she had inadvertently dressed like her character, Darcy Lewis, wearing a flannel shirt, glasses, and a hat. "They think I'm like pretend Darcy Lewis," she said, adding, "I was like, 'I look just like Darcy Lewis.' It was so stupid. I'm so dumb."

Dennings made her Marvel debut in Thor (2011) and reprised the role in Thor: The Dark World (2013). She later appeared in the animated series What If...?, the Disney+ series WandaVision, and made a cameo in Thor: Love and Thunder (2022).

Not the Only Forgetful Marvel Star

Dennings is not alone in forgetting her Marvel appearances. In 2019, Gwyneth Paltrow admitted on The Chef Show that she had forgotten her cameo in Spider-Man: Homecoming until director Jon Favreau reminded her.

Life After Marvel

Despite her fame, Dennings maintains a grounded perspective. "I don't think I'm that famous," she said. "I think if you hear my voice, you're like, 'I've heard that in a rerun at like 2:00 in the morning somewhere.' I enjoy the relative peace of my life."

The actress, who starred in 2 Broke Girls from 2011 to 2017, currently appears in the ABC comedy series Shifting Gears, whose third season is scheduled to air in 2027.
