Kate Middleton Enjoys Prosecco Pong, Says Mike Tindall

Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has a fondness for a popular drinking game: beer pong. However, she now adds a touch of elegance by replacing beer with prosecco, as revealed by her cousin-in-law, Mike Tindall. Mike, a 47-year-old retired England Rugby union player, is married to Prince William's cousin, Zara Tindall. In a recent interview with Woman and Home, Mike playfully commented on Kate's competitive nature.

Mike Tindall's Revelations

"I knew that the Princess of Wales was uber competitive because I'd seen her play a drinking game called beer pong, but normally we play prosecco pong! She still plays it with us," Mike said, as reported by PageSix. He added, "Sport is rife throughout the family, everyone is competitive." This is not the first time Mike has teased Kate about her competitive streak. In a 2023 episode of the podcast "The Good, The Bad & The Rugby," he engaged in playful banter, saying, "I am not going to say, you are uber competitive," to which Kate shyly replied, "I am not competitive at all."

Royal Support for Rugby

The lighthearted comments came during a special episode filmed in the Green Drawing Room of Windsor Castle, timed to the Rugby World Cup. In that context, Princess Kate, Prince William, and Princess Anne backed different teams as patrons of the Rugby Football Union, Welsh Rugby Union, and Scottish Rugby Union, respectively. Despite her love for the game, Kate has reduced her alcohol consumption following her cancer diagnosis.

Kate's Cancer Journey

Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer in 2024, shortly after undergoing major abdominal surgery. On World Cancer Day in 2026, she candidly spoke about her "fear" and "exhaustion" during her cancer journey in a video shared on Kensington Palace's social media channels. The video highlighted the struggles of others facing the disease worldwide, showing solidarity and virtue. "Cancer touches so many lives. Not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them. As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it's not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection," she said.

Family Life and Public Role

Kate Middleton is married to Prince William, heir to the British throne. The couple got engaged in 2011 while studying at the University of St Andrews in Scotland and have three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. As a prominent member of the British royal family, Kate is renowned for her work on early childhood development, mental health awareness, and charitable actions. She maintains a polished public image, but her family describes her as extremely competitive and highly sporty, a trait that aligns with Mike Tindall's remarks about her enjoyment of "prosecco pong" at family gatherings.
