Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Season 2 has been dominating the charts, maintaining the number one position for several weeks. To inject fresh excitement into the storyline and captivate audiences, the makers recently reintroduced Akashdeep Saigal to the show.
Akashdeep Saigal's Return and Role
Akashdeep, who originally portrayed the character of Tulsi Virani's son Ansh Gujral, has now returned to play his son. The 51-year-old actor has been cast as Tulsi's grandson in the new season. However, this casting decision has sparked controversy, as many viewers find it difficult to accept due to the age disparity between the actor and his role.
Viewer Backlash on Social Media
Numerous fans of Kyunki Saas Bhi Bahu Thi season 2 took to social media to express their disapproval, calling out the casting of Akashdeep as his own son. One user tweeted, "Story To Fir Adjust Kar Lenge Par Ye 50 Ki Umar Vala Pota Kese Sehen Hoga." Another user criticized the makers for depicting Akashdeep as Karan's son, stating, "How the heck is he supposed to be Ansh’s son? He looks older than Karan who is supposed to be the 'dad' (sic)."
A fan also wrote, "So Niyati has a son older than her, makers please be realistic." Another joked, "#ksbkbt2 Ekta (Kapoor) tune kya kiya."
Akashdeep Saigal's Perspective
In a recent exclusive interview with Bombay Times, Akashdeep spoke about his role as Rio in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2. He shared, "Acting isn’t about the date on your birth certificate; it’s about the energy you bring. America-returned scion who is dashing, charming, and sophisticated. What makes Rio special is his heart. He believes he is the son of Karan and Niyati, but there is more to his storyline."
Reflecting on his return, he said, "Honestly, life has a beautiful, almost poetic way of coming full circle. I never looked at Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi as a closed chapter; it was more like a resonant frequency waiting for the right moment to return."
He praised Ektaa Kapoor, stating, "She doesn't just cast, she foresees." Further complimenting the makers for casting him in the sequel, Akashdeep added, "When you work with someone of her vision, along with Siddharth Vankar and director Muzammil Desai, you don’t just act, you evolve."
