LeBron James and his wife, Savannah James, have been a power couple for nearly two decades. While the Los Angeles Lakers star has often praised Savannah for sacrificing for his career, his recent comments on women staying at home have sparked outrage.
LeBron James Criticizes Stay-at-Home Women
A few months ago, LeBron appeared on Savannah's podcast, Everybody's Crazy, and said, “I think personally me today, if I was not in a relationship, I could not have a stay at home woman…” The NBA legend added, “For me, who I am at 40 and what I got going on, just coming home and seeing somebody sitting on the couch every day just chilling, that wouldn't float for me.”
These remarks have triggered backlash, with fans accusing LeBron of disrespecting women who choose to manage households.
Fan Reactions
One fan wrote, “He's saying that, because any woman he dates is not doing laundry, dishes, cleaning bathrooms, floors etc all day. He hires people to do those things. Normal stay at home wives don't sit on the couch all day. They're doing housework. What an out of touch opinion.”
Another commented, “If you're 40 and she raised the kids while you were on the road, she's retired. She hung the jersey up.”
A third said, “This makes absolutely no sense. If they are a stay-at-home mom, there are a million things to do. Unless you got someone lazy. So he's assuming she would be lazy?”
Another added, “Stay at home moms don't sit on the couch and just chill. We're not all rich enough to pay for a maid service.”
A fifth noted, “LeBron’s out here saying the woman who sacrificed her prime to raise his kids and build his legacy isn’t enough anymore, he needs her grinding for clout too or he’ll get bored, straight-up proving rich dudes trade in traditional wives for trophies once the hard part’s done.”
Neither LeBron nor Savannah has commented on the controversy.
