A 22-year-old woman's death after falling from the Madiaon overbridge in Lucknow has taken a dramatic turn, with her father alleging murder and naming her boyfriend and his relatives in an FIR on Sunday. Shilpi Gautam, a resident of Birampur Singhamau in Bakshi Ka Talab, died after falling from the overbridge around 11 pm on Thursday. She was rushed to a hospital by passers-by and police, where doctors declared her dead. The case was initially treated as a suspected suicide.
Father Alleges Murder Conspiracy
In his complaint, Shilpi's father alleged that her boyfriend, his brother, and other associates killed her and threw the body from the bridge to stage it as a suicide. He also claimed the accused had earlier threatened his daughter and the family, and sought strict action against them. The father's allegations have prompted the police to register a murder case and begin a detailed probe.
Police Investigation Underway
DCP North Gopal Krishna Chaudhary stated that all angles, including the nature of Shilpi's relationship with the accused and any recent dispute, are under scrutiny. Call records, messages, and witness accounts are being analyzed. At the same time, preliminary evidence points to a possible suicide. CCTV footage from the area reportedly shows the woman approaching the overbridge alone.
“She is seen by herself in the available footage, indicating a strong possibility of suicide. However, the investigation is open,” an officer said. Post-mortem findings cite a fatal head injury with multiple impact injuries consistent with a fall, with no clear signs of assault so far. The police are now working to determine whether the incident was a suicide or a murder staged as one.
The case has drawn attention to the complexities of relationships and the need for thorough investigation. Authorities have assured that all evidence will be examined to ensure justice for the deceased and her family. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
