Madhoo recently opened up about her first meeting with the legendary Sridevi, describing how that brief moment remained etched in her memory for years. The actor confessed that she has always been one of Sridevi’s biggest fans, even before entering the film industry. She recalled watching Sridevi’s films across multiple languages and admiring her powerful screen presence.
Madhoo Recalls First Meeting with Sridevi
In an interaction with IANS, Madhoo spoke extensively about her admiration for Sridevi. She said, “What happened with me, I was and still am Shreeji's biggest fan. I feel that there is no actor like Shreedevi.” Madhoo added that she followed Sridevi’s work closely, watching her Tamil films as well as major Hindi releases like Himmatwala, Chandni, and Chalbaaz.
The actor noted that her respect for Sridevi grew from years of watching her performances. Interestingly, Madhoo’s debut film Phool Aur Kaante released around the same time as Sridevi’s Lamhe, a phase that left her overwhelmed. She remarked, “I am the biggest fan. And her films were releasing on time. And my films were releasing with her.”
Madhoo on Sridevi, Saroj Khan, and 'Phool Aur Kaante'
Madhoo then shared the story of her first encounter with Sridevi at Satyam Dance Hall. Sridevi was rehearsing for a song there, while Saroj Khan was rehearsing a song with Madhoo for Phool Aur Kaante. She recalled, “She was also rehearsing for some song in Satyam Dance Hall. And Sarojji also rehearsed with me in Satyam Dance Hall for Phoolar Kante song.”
Saroj Khan introduced Madhoo to Sridevi during that rehearsal. Madhoo said, “And I had a chance to meet Sriji for the first time. And Saroj Khan ji introduced me, this is Madhu. And her first film, this is her debut and we are rehearsing.” She remembered Sridevi’s simple reaction: “And Sriji went, hmm.”
Soon after, Lamhe and Phool Aur Kaante were released. Madhoo admitted that the moment made her nervous because she admired Sridevi so deeply. She recalled thinking, “I thought, where did she come from, what is happening. I was in a hiding.”
Madhoo’s heartfelt recollection highlights the profound impact Sridevi had on her, both as a fan and as a fellow actor. The brief meeting remains a cherished memory for Madhoo, underscoring Sridevi's timeless legacy in Indian cinema.
