Singer Madison Beer is in love, unbothered, and apparently very willing to talk about it. In a recent podcast, the 27-year-old opened up about her relationship with Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and the messy, painful path that led her there. What she said was honest, a little uncomfortable, and bold enough to get people talking.
Madison Beer credits past heartbreak and cheating exes for leading her to Justin Herbert
Beer did not hold back when asked whether her past heartbreaks shaped her current relationship with Herbert. "Everything happened exactly how it was meant to and led us to be together," she said, adding that the two discuss it openly. Sweet enough. But then she went further, admitting that being cheated on in past relationships made her look at women differently, something she says she "hates" about herself. In the same breath, she was clear: the man who cheated is the problem, not the other woman.
"When I got cheated on in some of my past relationships, it made me look at women in a different way, and I hate that part so much because, of course, I fully believe the man who cheated is the problem and not her."
It is a bold thing to say out loud. Most people feel that way privately and never admit it because admitting it means acknowledging that betrayal can quietly reshape how you see people who had nothing to do with it. Beer, calling herself out for it, is either very self-aware or very main character, depending on who you ask. Probably both.
Justin Herbert and Madison Beer are the real deal and they are not hiding it
The cheating admission lands differently when you see how this relationship actually looks. Beer and Herbert made their romance fully official at Clive Davis' pre-Grammys gala in February, staying side by side all evening. Herbert wore a black suit, while Beer donned a $3,000 strapless silk gown. Herbert called her "my favorite person of all time" and said she had "changed my life forever" in a birthday post earlier this year. Beer, for her part, has previously described herself as someone who "loves really hard" and tends to stay even when she probably should not have.
The two were first linked in the summer when Herbert was spotted visiting Beer on the set of her music video, which, as origin stories go, is undeniably cute. For a woman who has been publicly burned before, landing on a quarterback who blocks flying basketballs for you courtside and writes love letters on Instagram does seem like a pretty solid upgrade.
