Pop icon Madonna recently took over New York City to celebrate 'Confessions II', the sequel to her 2005 album 'Confessions on a Dance Floor'. The event marked the premiere of the visualizer for her upcoming album at the Tribeca Film Festival.
Emphasis on Connection
During the premiere, the seven-time Grammy winner explained that the short film is "really about connection," a theme she hopes to convey through her music. "I don't want to make mindless music. I want to make music that's about something," she said. "Dance music makes you move your body, and you feel the pulse. It's, like, you're connecting to the universe, you're connecting to other humans."
She further elaborated, "The movie's really about connection. I emerge from my solitude of this apartment and go right into a forest with people with lasers coming out of their asses. You just really go through life, take risks, be curious, be observant. And put your fucking phones down and connect."
Phone-Free Experience
According to reports, following her appearance at Coachella in April, Madonna noted that "everybody had their phones up (and) I didn't know what anyone looked like." This observation partly prompted her to require fans to lock their devices during the screening of the visualizer.
About 'Confessions II'
Directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase, known collectively as TORSO, 'Confessions II' is a 13-minute short film featuring the first six tracks of Madonna's upcoming 15th studio album. The album is set to debut on July 3, and the visualizer will premiere on YouTube on Monday.
