Actress and director Malti Chahar has issued a strong public denial, putting to rest persistent rumours of a romantic link with music composer Amaal Mallik. The speculation, which began during their time together on the reality show Bigg Boss 19, has continued to swirl even after the show's conclusion, prompting Chahar to set the record straight on social media platform X.
The Final Clarification on X
In a detailed post, Malti Chahar dismantled the narrative of any romantic involvement with Amaal Mallik. She stated unequivocally that there was never any relationship or "ship" between them. Chahar explained that their interaction was limited: Mallik had asked for her number, they met only once, shared some personal conversations, and remained in touch over the phone. "That's it! there was nothing else between us," she wrote, aiming to end the speculation once and for all.
Context from the Bigg Boss House and Feelings of Disrespect
Chahar also provided context for her famous line inside the Bigg Boss 19 house, hosted by Salman Khan, where she said, "bahar ki baat nahi karenge" (We won't talk about things from outside). She clarified that this was a promise to not reveal Mallik's personal information, not an admission of a hidden romance.
The actress expressed clear disappointment and a sense of betrayal regarding comments Amaal Mallik made during the show. She stated she only saw these remarks after exiting the house and found them deeply disrespectful. "It was disrespectful of Amaal to create a narrative on the show suggesting that I was trying to impress him and to make derogatory remarks about me," Chahar wrote.
Empathy, Regret, and a Final Plea
Malti Chahar revealed that her supportive behaviour towards Amaal Mallik on the show stemmed from empathy, particularly because he had spoken openly about his mental health struggles both before and during Bigg Boss 19. "I was empathetic and tried to help in the moment so he wouldn't have more regrets later. Now, I'm the one regretting it," she shared.
Concluding her statement, Chahar made a final request to the public and media: "That's all. Spare me now. Please don't associate my name with his. Thanks."
Malti Chahar entered Bigg Boss 19 as a wildcard contestant and was praised for her straightforward gameplay, ultimately reaching the Top 6 of the popular reality show.
