A disturbing incident of domestic violence has emerged from Ludhiana, where a man allegedly attacked his live-in partner with an iron rod, shaved her head to humiliate her, and posted a video of the assault on Instagram. The victim had tried to stop his habit of drinking, according to police reports.

The police in Dugri registered a case against the accused, identified as Anand Chaudhary, based on a complaint filed by the 31-year-old woman. The victim, a mother of three, lives separately from her estranged husband, who has custody of the children. The accused and the victim, both married to other individuals, had been living together for the past year.
Victim's Statement
The injured woman told the police that on the day of the assault, Chaudhary was heavily intoxicated. He attacked her with an iron rod, fracturing her arm, and then shaved her head as a form of public humiliation. She further stated that he recorded the entire incident and uploaded the video on Instagram. The victim also revealed that the accused had previously made several attempts to shame and defame her online. During the attack, he threatened to 'get rid' of her.
Legal Action
Head Constable Arpit Pasi confirmed that charges have been filed against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Section 115(2) for voluntarily causing hurt, Section 117(2) for grievous hurt, and Section 351(2) for criminal intimidation. The police are investigating the matter further.
This case highlights the growing concern over domestic violence and the misuse of social media platforms to perpetrate harassment. Authorities urge victims to report such incidents promptly.
