To celebrate what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 100th birthday, the Greater Palm Springs Pride organized a gathering of Marilyn Monroe look-alikes in downtown Palm Springs over the weekend. The event was a resounding success, with a massive turnout of participants dressed head to toe in one of Monroe's most iconic looks. Remarkably, the gathering also shattered a Guinness World Record.

Videos and photos from the event went viral as hundreds of people gathered in Palm Springs, donning Monroe's signature platinum-blonde wig and flared white dress. According to The New York Post, organizers had initially anticipated around 500 attendees to break the previous record for the largest number of Monroe impersonators. However, the actual turnout far exceeded expectations. The previous record, set in 2020 in Brighton, Australia, stood at 254 participants.
In total, approximately 1,037 people assembled in the area, volunteering to dress as the actress and contribute to the new world record. Each participant paid a registration fee of USD 75, which included a white dress, a platinum-blonde wig, cat-eye sunglasses, and a martini glass to complete the impersonation.

Event organizer Ron deHarte explained the tracking process to The Hollywood Times: "When folks arrive, they'll scan a QR code that confirms they're physically here. That's part of how we're using technology to document participation and verify attendance."
