A tragic incident unfolded in Patiala late Tuesday night when a first-year MBBS student of Government Medical College was brutally stabbed to death in his paying guest (PG) accommodation. The deceased has been identified as 20-year-old Arjun Singh, a native of Hoshiarpur. The attack took place around 10:30 PM in the Rajpura Road area, where the student resided with a few other medical students.

According to the police, the victim was returning to his room after dinner when an assailant allegedly attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon. Arjun sustained multiple stab wounds to his chest and abdomen and was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where he was declared brought dead. The PG accommodation warden heard the commotion and alerted the authorities.
Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sandeep Garg stated that the preliminary investigation suggests a personal enmity might be the motive behind the murder. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, a 22-year-old local resident, has been arrested. Ravi reportedly had a previous altercation with Arjun over a trivial issue a few days ago.
