The much-anticipated biographical film 'Michael', centered on the life of the legendary pop icon Michael Jackson, has been released worldwide on April 24. Special preview screenings took place in select Indian theatres on Thursday, and the film has been garnering mixed reviews from audiences and critics alike.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Aspiration to Direct a Michael Jackson Biopic
Interestingly, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the acclaimed director of the blockbuster film 'Animal', had previously expressed a strong desire to helm a biopic on the King of Pop. He also raised pertinent questions about finding the right actor to portray the iconic role.
Vanga's Vision for the Project
In a conversation with Baradwaj Rangan on Galatta Plus in 2024, Sandeep Reddy Vanga shared his thoughts on the matter. He stated, 'I want to do a biopic someday. I would like to direct the biopic of Michael Jackson. But the question is, who will play him, who will be the actor? But if you get an actor, you can pitch it to Hollywood and you can make it in English. He led a very interesting life, right from his childhood to his schooling and how he changed his skin colour and all. It's a great journey and a great story. But who would be the right actor, that's the question. That will be a dream and everybody will buy the ticket. Whoever directs it, I would buy the tickets and watch it because I want to know.'
Allu Arjun Casting Buzz
Reports have suggested that Sandeep Reddy Vanga considered popular Telugu actor Allu Arjun for the lead role in his envisioned biopic. This idea gained significant attention in media circles, but the director did not share further details regarding the project.
Cast and Crew of 'Michael'
The new film 'Michael' stars Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of Michael Jackson, in the titular role. Colman Domingo and Nia Long portray Michael Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson, respectively. Despite high expectations, the Hollywood production has received mixed reviews from critics.
