Morgan Riddle, the girlfriend of American tennis star Taylor Fritz, has ignited a heated online debate after sharply criticizing a New York Times opinion article published just before Pride Month. The tennis influencer, known for her social media presence and support of Fritz at ATP Tour events, took to Instagram to voice her displeasure, arguing that the piece carried a misogynistic message and unfairly framed women as the root cause of modern dating problems.
Article Headline Change Sparks Outrage
The article was initially published under the headline “Being Straight is Great Actually” before being changed to “There’s Nothing Wrong With Wanting Men.” Riddle expressed strong disagreement with both versions, questioning the timing and underlying message. She wrote on Instagram: “Crazy thing to post the day before Pride Month starts. The title was promptly changed after obvious criticism to ‘There’s Nothing Wrong With Wanting Men’ which I would argue almost somehow feels worse.” Her comments quickly gained traction, with many social media users weighing in on the controversy.
Riddle Criticizes Author and Broader Narrative
In a follow-up post, Riddle scrutinized the article’s author, noting that the writer appears to be in a long-term happy relationship and serves as an editor for Playboy. She remarked: “The author of the article actually seem to be in a 10-year long happy relationship and is also an editor for the Playboy, the media institution that is the apex of the male gaze and sexual objectification of women.” Riddle also reposted a message that read: “Watching men crumble over the exact energy they have given women for centuries.”
Past Comments on Gender Issues Resurface
This is not the first time Riddle has openly discussed gender-related topics. During an appearance on the Mean But True podcast, she spoke about her personal experiences and how they shaped her views. At the time, she stated: “I don’t think feminism is enough, I think we need more misandry.” She later explained that her views were influenced by books about online hate groups and violence against women, as well as difficult experiences in her own life. She added: “Someone said this to me last week, like ‘oh is this part of your man-hating schtick?’. And I was like ‘schtick?… No, it’s the result of me having really, really horrible, scary experiences with men.’”
Taylor Fritz Prepares for Grass-Court Season
Meanwhile, Taylor Fritz is gearing up for the grass-court season. The American’s French Open campaign ended on May 24, 2026, with a loss to Nishesh Basavareddy. His next scheduled tournament is the Boss Open in Stuttgart, Germany, which begins on June 8. Riddle is expected to accompany him as she often does, continuing to balance her role as an influencer and a supportive partner.
