MOTI Walkathon in Bengaluru Promotes Dog Adoption

Bengaluru: A walkathon involving community dogs, with participation from children and interactive activities, marked the launch of the 'MOTI' (Movement of Trust & Inclusion) initiative at Cubbon Park on Sunday. The event was organized by the Bengaluru Central City Corporation and aimed to encourage the adoption of community dogs and promote peaceful coexistence between humans and animals.

Event Highlights

During the event, four Indie (Indian mongrel) dogs were adopted by families. Officials also provided vaccinations and distributed adoption kits that included dog food, collars, chains, and water bowls. The kits were designed to help new pet owners care for their adopted dogs.

Inauguration and Activities

BCCC additional commissioner (development) Daljit Kumar inaugurated the programme by placing water bowls for dogs, urging citizens to help animals cope with the summer heat and consider adoption. Additional commissioner (revenue) K Ranganath and zonal joint commissioner Hemanth Sharan flagged off the walkathon. Residents, animal lovers, and NGOs participated in the walkathon, walking alongside community dogs to raise awareness about adoption and animal welfare.

Children's Participation

Children engaged in a painting activity that involved creating paw-print art on paper using community puppies. Paintings highlighting the need for adoption were also unveiled during the event, adding a creative touch to the awareness campaign.

Impact and Future Plans

The MOTI initiative seeks to foster a sense of responsibility and compassion among citizens towards community dogs. By promoting adoption and providing resources, the program aims to reduce the number of stray dogs and improve their welfare. Organizers hope to replicate the event in other parts of the city to expand the movement.
