Nepali Man Flees with Gold Worth Rs 13.4 Lakh in Chennai

Chennai: The police have registered a case against a 35-year-old man from Nepal who allegedly fled after misappropriating gold worth Rs 13.4 lakh from a jewellery shop in T Nagar. The accused, identified as Ramesh Bahadur, was employed by Lalit Kumar (39), who runs a shop on South Usman Road, for the past seven years.

Incident Details

According to the police, on Friday, Kumar handed over four gold bars to Bahadur and another employee, Deepika, instructing them to take the gold to a jewellery shop in Sowcarpet for sale. Bahadur sold the gold and collected the proceeds. However, he handed over only Rs 32.8 lakh to Kumar, which was the value of three bars. The value of the fourth bar, amounting to Rs 13.4 lakh, was misappropriated by Bahadur.

Escape and Investigation

When the group was on their way to the police station to report the matter, Bahadur managed to escape. A manhunt is currently underway to apprehend the suspect. The police are investigating the case and have urged the public to provide any information regarding the whereabouts of Ramesh Bahadur.
