The highly anticipated wedding between music composer Palash Muchhal and Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana took an unexpected turn when the groom was admitted to a Mumbai hospital just one day before the ceremony due to severe stress and exhaustion.
Medical Emergency Strikes Before Wedding
According to reports from Mid-Day, Palash Muchhal was rushed to SRV Hospital in Goregaon West after experiencing severe chest pain and breathlessness. The incident occurred on November 22, just 24 hours before he was scheduled to marry Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana on November 23.
Dr. Dipendra Tripathi, one of the physicians treating Muchhal at SRV Hospital, confirmed that the composer's condition was directly linked to stress rather than any serious cardiac issue. "Muchhal's condition appears to be linked to stress-related distress rather than a serious cardiac event," Dr. Tripathi stated in his medical assessment.
Hospital Treatment and Recovery Process
Upon admission to the hospital, medical professionals conducted comprehensive cardiac tests including an ECG and 2D echocardiography. While doctors noted slightly elevated levels in some parameters, they confirmed there was no indication of a major cardiac or medical emergency.
The medical team immediately began oxygen therapy as part of standard treatment protocol. After initial stabilization, Muchhal was transferred to a general room where he remained under close medical observation. Hospital authorities confirmed on Wednesday that the composer is now stable and recovering well.
Despite being scheduled for discharge on Wednesday, doctors have advised Muchhal to take complete rest for three weeks to ensure full recovery and prevent recurrence of symptoms.
Wedding Controversy and Family Health Crises
The health emergency affecting Palash Muchhal followed another medical crisis in the Mandhana family. Smriti Mandhana's father, Shrinivas Mandhana, was hospitalized in Sangli after experiencing heart attack-like symptoms just before the wedding date.
According to statements from Palash's mother to Hindustan Times, the composer shares a close bond with Smriti's father and decided that wedding rituals should not proceed until Mr. Mandhana's health improved. Shrinivas Mandhana was subsequently discharged from Sarvhit Hospital on November 25.
The series of health emergencies and subsequent wedding postponement has sparked significant speculation on social media. Adding to the controversy, Smriti Mandhana has removed all wedding-related posts from her Instagram account, fueling further rumors about the status of their relationship.
Online platforms have circulated unverified claims about alleged infidelity, though neither party has confirmed these rumors. The couple, who began dating in 2019 and publicly acknowledged their relationship in July 2024, have maintained privacy throughout their courtship.
