Pranit More Faces Backlash Over Audience Member's Controversial Remark at Show
Pranit More Backlash After Audience Member's Offensive Comment

Bigg Boss 19 fame Pranit More has been receiving massive backlash after an audience member made an offensive comment during his show. The controversy began when 23-year-old Himanshu Jangra said at Pranit's show that after spending Rs 370 on a chicken biryani during a date, he expected something in return. Several celebrities reacted to the controversial remark and slammed both Pranit and Himanshu.

Malti Chahar's Reaction

Pranit's Bigg Boss co-contestant Malti Chahar, who was romantically linked on the show, tweeted her opinion regarding the controversy on her X account on June 10. The post sparked several reactions online. Many users also asked her to comment on another controversy from the same show involving a female doctor, Sejal Pawar, who faced criticism for making inappropriate comments about the private parts of male corpses.

On June 11, Malti shared another post on X to clear the air and clarify her remarks. She wrote, "I’m fortunate to have many good men around me, and none of them say such things about women or support this kind of nonsense in the name of comedy. Being good or bad is not gender-specific. There are women who do wrong things too, and if you want to call that out, nobody is stopping you. But just because I choose to speak up about one issue doesn’t mean I’m obligated to comment on every issue or share my opinion on everything."

She added, "And to clarify, my last tweet wasn’t directed at any one specific person. It was aimed at the larger group of people who write or speak such nonsense and see nothing wrong with it. Just like the people who wrote nonsense in comment section of my last tweet!"

In an earlier tweet, Malti had reacted to an X user about the comments made by the female doctor. She replied, "I didn’t like that either. I only recently came across it, and honestly, I didn’t find it funny at all. I genuinely don’t understand what people found so hilarious that had them laughing so hard. Anyway, this kind of stand-up has never really been my cup of tea. And just because I speak out against one thing doesn’t automatically mean I support something else. Those are two completely separate conversations."

Sejal Pawar's Controversy

For the uninitiated, Sejal had said that she and another female colleague would sometimes compare the sizes of male corpses' private parts at the hospital. Her remarks drew criticism online, following which she issued an apology.

Pranit More's Apology

Pranit apologised for the comments made during his crowdwork. He issued an apology note on his social media account days before he deactivated his account. While many have slammed the comedian, some have requested that the trolling stop.

In his note, Pranit wrote, "I understand the criticism regarding a recent crowdwork clip. The comments made by the audience member do not reflect my views. Looking back, I should have challenged the remark instead of laughing and moving on. That was a lapse in judgment on my part. Live crowdwork often involves reacting in real time, but that’s not an excuse. I take the feedback seriously and will be more thoughtful in how I handle similar situations going forward."

He added, "We’ve also removed the video from all our platforms, as I don’t want to amplify or normalize those views."

He further said, "I appreciate everyone who raised their concerns respectfully. I sincerely apologize for whatever happened, and I’ll take this lesson forward. I’m human, and like anyone else, I’m constantly learning. Being called out when I get something wrong doesn’t make me smaller but helps me grow. I accept that I could have handled this better, and I’ll be more mindful never to unintentionally support or normalize such views in the future."

Pranit More is a stand-up comedian and was last seen in Bigg Boss 19. He was declared as the second runner-up of the show.
