A security guard at a residential society in Pune was arrested on Friday for allegedly attempting to molest four minor girls. The incident occurred at a housing society under the Bhosari MIDC police station limits.
Brave 10-Year-Old Girl Reports Incident
The harrowing ordeal ended after a 10-year-old girl displayed exemplary courage by reporting the predator to her mother, despite receiving death threats from the accused. A case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act was registered with the Bhosari MIDC police.
Senior police inspector Ganesh Jamdar of the Bhosari MIDC police station confirmed, "The guard was appointed the same day (Friday) and we have arrested him."
Details of the Incident
The incident took place on Friday afternoon when the accused lured four girls — aged 10, 8, 8, and 6 years — to the terrace of the seventh floor of the housing society under the pretext of showing them the society's water tank. Taking advantage of the afternoon lull, he indulged in obscene acts and attempted to sexually assault the minors.
To ensure their silence, the accused reportedly threatened to kill them if they spoke about it to their parents. However, the 10-year-old girl later told everything to her mother, who immediately alerted the authorities.
The police acted swiftly and arrested the guard. An investigation is underway, and the accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Pocso Act and the Indian Penal Code.
