Sukhjinder Randhawa: Comparing Nehru and Modi is inappropriate
Randhawa opposes Nehru-Modi comparison

Chandigarh: Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa strongly objected to comparisons being made between India's first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, and the current Prime Minister. He asserted that comparing Nehru with Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inappropriate.

Nehru's Contributions Highlighted

Randhawa stated that Pandit Nehru was one of the principal architects of modern India and that Punjab benefited immensely from his vision. He noted that the construction of the Bhakra Dam in Punjab was realized through the vision of Nehru and Pratap Singh Kairon. Additionally, the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI) was established, and several engineering colleges were built. Most importantly, an agricultural university was established in Punjab, which not only transformed farming in the state but also provided a new direction to agriculture across the country. Today, the entire world recognises its significance, he remarked.

Allegations Against PM Modi

The former deputy chief minister alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is engaged only in vote-cutting politics. He claimed that votes are divided according to Modi's wishes, and only those nominations are accepted that Modi wants. Randhawa alleged that the freedom which Congress secured through immense sacrifices is now being undermined, and that Modi is bent on destroying the country. If anyone is held responsible for the country's ruin, it will be Prime Minister Modi, he said.
