A 29-year-old Russian woman tourist was discovered deceased under mysterious circumstances at a homestay in Kasol, a well-known destination in Kullu district's Parvati Valley, on June 11. The incident came to light on Thursday when her friend, a Belarusian national who was staying with her, found her unconscious in the washroom and promptly alerted the homestay caretaker, according to a Manikaran police official.
Upon receiving the information, a police team from Manikaran arrived at the scene and transported the woman to the Regional Hospital in Kullu, where she was pronounced dead. Her body has been placed in the hospital mortuary pending further procedures.
Police have registered a case and notified the Russian Embassy in New Delhi. Officials stated that the post-mortem examination will be conducted only after the deceased's parents or relatives arrive. According to police, the exact cause of death will be determined solely from the autopsy report. However, during questioning, the deceased's friend stated that she did not suspect any foul play.
