Actor Shahbaz Khan has disclosed that he played a pivotal role in bringing the late actor Irrfan Khan into the fantasy television series 'Chandrakanta'. During an exclusive interaction with IANS, Shahbaz shared that while working together on another show titled 'The Great Maratha', he persuaded Irrfan to take on a role in 'Chandrakanta'.
Shahbaz Khan's Revelation
Shahbaz stated, 'The credit for bringing Irrfan in 'Chandrakanta' goes to me. We were doing a show called 'The Great Maratha', in which I was the hero and he was the villain. Once we were just chit-chatting after the pack up, and I convinced him to do 'Chandrakanta'.' Initially, Irrfan was not very keen on joining the show, but Shahbaz persisted, telling him, 'It is a grand show, good show, you should do it.' Eventually, Irrfan called Shahbaz to confirm his willingness to participate.
Shahbaz expressed his gratitude, saying, 'I am very fortunate to have worked with an actor like Irrfan Khan.' In 'Chandrakanta', Shahbaz portrayed the character of Kunwar Virendra Vikram Singh, while Irrfan played the twin brothers Badrinath and Somnath.

Created, written, produced, and directed by Nirja Guleri, 'Chandrakanta' aired on DD National from 1994 to 1996. The show also had reruns on StarPlus, Sony Entertainment Television, and NTV (Nepal Television).
Irrfan Khan's Career Highlights
