Singer Carries Mother-In-Law on Head in Brij Parikrama

A Haryana-based singer has garnered widespread appreciation on social media after a video showing her carrying her 90-year-old mother-in-law on her head in a specially designed basket while undertaking the 84-kos Brij Parikrama went viral. The video, which has been widely shared across various platforms, captures the singer completing the sacred circumambulation while balancing her mother-in-law in a basket on her head.

Act of Devotion and Love

Kajal Chaudhary is receiving immense praise for her gesture, which she says was driven by her desire to fulfill her mother-in-law's long-cherished wish to undertake the circumambulation of the Braj region. "It was my own decision. My mother-in-law did not ask me to do this. I am doing it for my own satisfaction," Chaudhary stated, emphasizing that the act was entirely voluntary.

The 84-Kos Brij Parikrama

Reportedly spanning around 260 kilometers, the 84-kos Brij Parikrama passes through natural landmarks such as ponds and forests. The journey is deeply associated with the legends of Lord Krishna and covers parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Pawan Kaushik, a sewayat (priest) at the Sri Dhanghati Temple in Govardhan, explained that the journey typically takes around 40 days to complete. However, devotees nowadays are attempting to finish it during the religious month of Adhik Mas.

The Parikrama involves offering prayers at temples and performing yajnas during Purushottam Mas (the auspicious extra month in the Hindu calendar). According to Kaushik, this practice is considered highly auspicious and spiritually beneficial for devotees.
