Significance of Sita Navami
Sita Navami holds immense importance in Hinduism as it commemorates the birth of Goddess Sita, the consort of Lord Rama. It is believed to be observed one month after Ram Navami. According to Hindu scriptures, Goddess Sita is an incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi, and she was wed to Lord Rama, the prince of Ayodhya and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The epic Ramcharitmanas is entirely based on the lives of Goddess Sita and Lord Rama.
Goddess Sita's life story serves as an inspiration for all women. Despite being a princess of Mithila and the wife of Lord Rama, her life was never easy. She was exiled to the forest along with her husband and brother-in-law Lakshmana during her early years. There, the demon king Ravana kidnapped her and took her to his kingdom of Lanka, yet she never compromised her dignity. After undergoing Agni Pariksha to prove her purity, she gave birth to her sons Luv and Kush at the ashram of Sage Valmiki. She is an ideal example of a single mother who raised her children without the support of her spouse or other family members. Goddess Sita symbolizes strength and power, and modern women can learn many valuable lessons from her life.
