Smriti Irani Celebrates Ashlesha & Sandeep's Marriage After 23 Years
Smriti Irani's Heartfelt Wish for Newlyweds

In a heartwarming social media post, actress and politician Smriti Irani recently celebrated the wedding of her former co-stars, Ashlesha Sawant and Sandeep Baswana. The couple, who had been in a live-in relationship for over 23 years, finally formalised their union, prompting a touching tribute from Irani on Instagram.

A Love Story Rooted in Friendship

Sharing a series of photos from the couple's special day, Smriti Irani penned a note that delved into the unique nature of their bond. She described their journey as one that began "not with rituals, but with realism". Irani emphasised that their relationship was built on a foundation of pure companionship and an honest understanding that while romantic love might fluctuate, true friendship remains constant.

She wrote that from this foundational truth sprang a "beautiful—albeit different—journey" for the couple.

An Unconventional Path to the Altar

In her caption, Irani affectionately called Ashlesha and Sandeep "different, unconventional, wonderfully their own". She revealed that their deep love and synchronisation were well-known, but their reluctance to marry had been a point of gentle contention among their friends.

"Madly in love, deeply in sync, and constantly driving friends like me up the wall as we kept breathing down their necks to get married," Irani shared with humour. She expressed her joy that "irritating idiots" like herself had finally succeeded, and she was thrilled to see the couple "bound by love and celebrating it through rituals."

The Intimate Vrindavan Ceremony

The couple made their long-standing relationship official on November 16 with a small and intimate wedding ceremony. They tied the knot at the Chandrodaya temple in Vrindavan, marking the beginning of their married life in a sacred and serene setting.

While Ashlesha Sawant is currently seen in the television show Jhanak, Sandeep Baswana was last seen in Apoleena. Their marriage culminates a partnership that has weathered over two decades, proving that some of the best love stories are those that are written on their own terms.
