Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi, known for her role on the reality TV series 'Jersey Shore,' has announced that she will undergo a hysterectomy after being diagnosed with stage 1 cervical cancer at the age of 38. The reality star shared her diagnosis earlier this year, detailing her journey in a social media video posted in January.
Snooki Reveals Cervical Cancer Diagnosis
In the video, Polizzi explained how she learned of the cancerous cells following further testing, including a colposcopy and biopsy. 'Results come back,' she said. 'Doctor calls me, and he’s like, ‘Not looking great.’ He found cancerous cells on the top of my cervix.' She urged other women facing similar health scares to comment below, saying, 'I would love for just the community of mamas who has gotten this done and is dealing with this to just comment below. So we have a community of us who are scared and dealing with this to be there for each other, because being a woman is not easy, and this is definitely a scary thing. And I know I’m going to be fine. It’s just… it’s scary.'
Snooki Reacts to Cancer Diagnosis
Recalling the moment she received the news, Polizzi told People magazine, 'I had a breakdown. I got to my car and I called my mom hysterically crying, thinking the worst.' Further testing confirmed that the cancer had not spread. Doctors have advised a hysterectomy in the coming months, after which no additional treatment is expected to be necessary. Polizzi expressed relief, stating, 'It’s not the worst case and I can still deal with it. I’m gonna be fine.'
