The announcement was made by the club's general secretary, Ibrahim Adkasthala, who stated that the selection was carried out by a committee led by Press Club president PB Harish Rai.

Deepak works as a bus driver at the Sanidhya Skill Training Centre and also runs a small business to support his family. Despite his limited financial resources, he has dedicated his life to social service, demonstrating that compassion and commitment can overcome economic challenges.

In 2012, he founded the Rajakesari Service Trust by mobilizing local youths who shared his vision of helping the needy.
