Mangaluru: Deepak G, a dedicated social worker from Belthangady, has been chosen for the prestigious Mangaluru Press Club Annual Award for the year 2025-26. The announcement was made by the club's general secretary, Ibrahim Adkasthala, who stated that the selection was carried out by a committee led by Press Club president PB Harish Rai.

The award, which includes a cash prize, will be officially presented during the Press Club Day celebrations scheduled for May 24. The event will take place at the Red Cross Centennial Hall in Mangaluru, bringing together journalists and community leaders to honor outstanding contributions.
Deepak's Background and Service
Deepak works as a bus driver at the Sanidhya Skill Training Centre and also runs a small business to support his family. Despite his limited financial resources, he has dedicated his life to social service, demonstrating that compassion and commitment can overcome economic challenges.
In 2012, he founded the Rajakesari Service Trust by mobilizing local youths who shared his vision of helping the needy. What started as a small group has grown into a district-level organization with over 400 members, many of whom are daily-wage workers who contribute their time and effort selflessly.

- Built free houses for 34 homeless families, providing them with shelter and dignity
- Distributed 21 sewing machines to empower women with livelihood skills

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the trust also performed the final rites of 85 deceased persons, ensuring that no one died without dignity and respect, even in the most challenging times.
