Fresh new photos from the upcoming film 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' have given fans an exciting new look at Tom Holland's return as Peter Parker. The images, leaked from a magazine spread, were posted online amid the actor's 30th birthday celebrations.
Darker Twist for Spider-Man
The latest batch of leaked set photos from the Destin Daniel Cretton directorial teases a darker twist to Peter Parker's story. The new images suggest audiences will meet a more isolated Spider-Man operating as a lone vigilante in New York City, with no public recognition and few remaining personal connections.
Among the most talked-about images are ones showing Holland's Spider-Man in a classic comic-book accurate red-and-blue suit, with a ninja star stabbed in his shoulder, suggesting a battle with the Hand.
Bruce Banner, The Punisher, and Villains' First Look
One image appears to show Spider-Man in conversation with Bruce Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo, suggesting the scientist and Avenger could play a role in helping Peter with his powers and changes. Another photo shows the superhero shaking hands with a Department of Damage Control (DODC) agent portrayed by Tramell Tillman, while heavily armoured officers stand nearby.
The images also tease the first close-up shots of villains Scorpion and Tombstone. Meanwhile, Jon Bernthal's The Punisher also features with worn-out gear.
Kevin Feige Confirms Classic Spider-Man Story
Speaking with Empire, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige also confirmed that 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' will 'rewrite' the classic Spider-Man story, including the character's personal and money problems. Feige said, 'It is the first Spider-Man film that we've made in the MCU that is focused on the classic elements of Spider-Man. He's doing the Spidey thing of living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly.'
Dominic Holland Shares Birthday Tribute
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Tom Holland's birthday, his father, Dominic Holland, marked the special day by sharing a video on Instagram along with a heartfelt message for his son. 'Happy 30th Tom! In training from day dot,' Dominic wrote alongside the post that saw the actor as a toddler, gripping a rope while in his mother's arms.
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is scheduled for its theatrical release on July 31.
