Suriya, one of the senior actors in the Tamil film fraternity, has been working in the industry since the late 1990s. He rose to stardom with commercial and critically acclaimed films from the early 2000s to the mid-2000s, including the 'Singam' franchise, 'Ghajini', 'Vaaranam Aayiram', and 'Kaakha Kaakha'.
Quote of the Day
During the audio launch of his film 'Karuppu', Suriya said, "Dreams have no expiry date."
At the same event, Suriya spoke about his co-star, Malayalam actor Indrans, in a very touching way. He shared that when Indrans first started acting, people used to make fun of his appearance. It was unfair and hurtful, but Indrans never gave up. Suriya revealed that Indrans, who initially worked as a costume designer, took small roles and kept acting, always believing in himself. Years later, he won a National Award.
Suriya used this story to remind everyone of a simple yet powerful truth: one should always aspire and dream for more. Although Suriya has tasted huge box office success before, his post-pandemic outings have been mediocre by his standards, and he has been eyeing a big hit.
Suriya's Outings Before 'Karuppu'
Suriya went through a tough phase where his films struggled at the box office. His 2024 film 'Kanguva', made on a massive budget, received mixed to negative reviews and underperformed badly, becoming one of the biggest disappointments of that year. His next collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj, though considered a good film, couldn't sustain its initial run, opening to favorable reviews but losing steam early, resulting in another failure. However, his latest fantasy action thriller, 'Karuppu', became Suriya's highest-grossing film of all time.
Suriya emphasized that it doesn't matter how old you are, what you look like, or how many times people have put you down. Your dream is still valid, and it's never too late.
