Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, several Union Ministers, and megastar Chiranjeevi have expressed deep condolences over the demise of veteran playback singer S Janaki. The legendary singer, known for her melodious voice spanning multiple languages, passed away at the age of 86 on 11 July 2026.

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan described Janaki as a golden voice that touched millions of hearts. In her message, she called the singer an enduring symbol of melody, devotion, and artistic excellence. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy recalled Janaki's immense contribution to Indian cinema, particularly in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi films. He stated that her songs would remain timeless and continue to inspire generations.

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy also offered his tributes, highlighting Janaki's unparalleled versatility and her ability to bring life to every song she sang. S Janaki recorded over 30,000 songs across various Indian languages during her career spanning more than five decades. She received numerous accolades, including the Padma Shri in 2013 and several state film awards. The Telangana government announced that Janaki's funeral would be conducted with full state honours. Her body was kept at her residence for fans and well-wishers to pay their last respects before the cremation.
