While attending the recent Academy of Country Music Awards, Rhett could not stop expressing his fondness for the beloved boy band. Speaking to Billboard on the red carpet, the country star revealed that he is a huge fan and even disclosed that he shares a close friendship with former One Direction member Niall Horan. When asked about his favorite One Direction song, Rhett enthusiastically replied, “Steal My Girl.” He then broke into the lyrics alongside the interviewers, showcasing his genuine appreciation for the track.

During the same conversation, Rhett elaborated on his decade-long friendship with Niall Horan. He explained that their connection was facilitated by his producer, who had previously worked with One Direction. “I've known Niall for a decade now. Our producer, my producer, produced all the 1D stuff back in the day. He produced Teddy Swims, Sabrina Carpenter, he's awesome,” Rhett said. He added, “But he introduced me to Niall about a decade ago and we've become really good buddies. We put a song out together last year and just decided, ‘Let’s go do some shows together,’ so we've got a couple this year.”
Last year, the duo collaborated on a re-release of Rhett’s song Old Tricks, featuring Horan’s vocals. Rhett hinted at further joint efforts, noting that they have met multiple times and are planning several concerts in the coming months. He also listed some of the venues and locations that will be part of his upcoming tour with Horan, though specific details remain under wraps.
