Contrary to viral rumours and online speculation, actor Tom Hardy has not been fired from the hit crime drama series 'MobLand' and discussions are underway for his return in a potential third season. New reports from Variety have confirmed that the actor is not on his way out, with sources close to the production insisting that creative differences are being worked through.
Tom Hardy's Return for Season 3
According to the report, sources close to the production confirmed that discussions are currently underway to ensure Hardy's return as fixer Harry Da Souza. Insiders stated, 'Tom was not fired, the door is not closed for Season 3 and things are being worked through creatively.' The clarification comes after online buzz suggested Hardy would not be returning for the next season.
Set Drama and Allegations
The report further adds that the allegations against Hardy were not entirely untrue, as sources claimed frustrations existed on multiple sides. 'He's difficult, but he's a movie star,' a second production source reportedly said to the portal. While tensions behind the scenes were reportedly real, the outlet stated Hardy had not officially been removed from the project and that all parties were still attempting to resolve their creative differences.
Helen Mirren Shows Support
Amid the drama and growing online buzz surrounding Hardy's alleged behaviour on set, actress and co-star Helen Mirren publicly showed support for Hardy. The Oscar-winning actress, who plays Maeve Harrigan in the series, shared a picture of Hardy on her Instagram alongside a heartfelt message. 'Love you now and always,' Mirren wrote, signing off simply as 'Helen.'
The post came shortly after earlier reports claimed Mirren and fellow cast member Pierce Brosnan had allegedly grown frustrated over extended delays during filming. Back in December, the actress also shared a post declaring her love for her co-star. In that post, she revealed 'Things I love' and shared a photo of Hardy, writing, 'Tom Hardy for his brilliance onscreen, his dedication off screen, his good heart, and especially the Hardy Hugs I get when onset with him, which is not nearly enough in my opinion.' She also noted that one of the things she 'hated' was 'bad journalism.'
'MobLand' Season 3 in the Works
Season 2 of the Paramount+ drama has already wrapped filming but is yet to premiere, while production on a possible third season is expected to begin later this year. A production source told Variety, 'I'm sure Guy is probably pushing David Glasser to make it work. Guy likes working with Tom.'
The latest clarification comes after reports emerged claiming Hardy had allegedly fallen out with writer Jez Butterworth and producer David Glasser during filming. Directed in part by Guy Ritchie, 'MobLand' follows the powerful Harrigan crime family and features an ensemble cast including Brosnan, Mirren, Paddy Considine, and Joanne Froggatt.
