Tom Holland Wants to Mentor Next Spider-Man Actor

Tom Holland will soon reprise his role as Peter Parker in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', but the actor has already shared his thoughts on who could eventually take over the mantle when he steps away from the franchise.

Holland's Vision for the Future

During an interview with Esquire, Holland expressed his desire to remain involved with the franchise and help guide the next generation of actors entering the Marvel universe. He said, "In the way that Robert Downey was such a mentor for me in my first three movies, I would love to be that person for whoever is next."

Potential Successor: Owen Cooper

When asked about a worthy successor, Holland suggested Owen Cooper, stating, "Owen Cooper would be awesome. Obviously, he’s super-talented and the talk of the town right now." Cooper, 16, recently earned widespread acclaim for his role in the Netflix limited series 'Adolescence', becoming one of the youngest actors to sweep awards in the acting category.

Holland also teased an exciting future for the Spider-Man franchise. Appearing on the Spanish television programme El Hormiguero, he hinted that Marvel is preparing fresh faces and storylines. "All I can say is that the future of Spider-Man is really bright and we have plans to introduce really exciting new characters. How will they do that? We don’t know yet, but that’s how it will be and it will be awesome," Holland said.

Upcoming Release

'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' marks Holland's seventh appearance as the web-slinger since his Marvel debut in 2016 with 'Avengers: Civil War'. The film is scheduled for release on July 31 and is one of the most anticipated superhero movies of the year.
