'13 Reasons Why' Star Slams Passenger for Transphobic Comments

Recently, the actress took to her social media account to call out a fellow passenger, an elderly man who was on the same flight as her. While posting a series of photos, Dorfman revealed that she saw the passenger sending transphobic messages about her to someone on his phone. She shared what the man wrote in his text messages, which read, 'I am in the first aisle of first class. Guess what is sitting next to me? A f---ing transsexual in the midst of going from a man to a woman. Just my luck. I was hoping for a hot babe!!' Another text from the man allegedly read, 'Two and a half hours of sitting next to this freak!!'

The actress posted photos of the messages on his phone, taken from a distance, and expressed her disdain over the matter. Dorfman came out as a transgender woman in 2021 and has since been advocating for transgender rights, speaking out about the issues the community faces daily.

Tommy Dorfman Speaks Out on Safety and Comfort

She further wrote in her post, 'The audacity of this man so blatantly blasting off texts about me (sparing you the deeply misogynistic and revolting comments on our flight attendants in contrast to my freak) only reaffirms the choices I've made for myself to feel safe and comfortable in my body and spirit.' Dorfman added, 'This does come at the cost of safety and comfort in the world, especially in America, and that's not without consequence internally and externally. I am lucky to have the life I have, the ability to fly freely (for now), and even post s--- like this.'

She also commented on how, although she knows she does not 'look' feminine, she puts effort into her body and appearance for her own comfort, not for other people. 'It's always been about alignment and autonomy for my own comfort, not the comfort of others or the expectations of society,' she shared. The posts garnered a lot of reactions, with many people extending their support for the actress.
