Urvashi Rautela recently shared her experience of meeting Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio at the Cannes Film Festival in 2025. The actress recalled feeling extremely guilty after accidentally mispronouncing his surname during one of her earlier interviews.

During a conversation with Galatta India, Urvashi spoke about interacting with international celebrities and described meeting Leonardo DiCaprio as a memorable yet awkward moment. She admitted to incorrectly pronouncing the actor's surname in a previous interview.
Mispronunciation Incident
Urvashi said, "That's true, I am the first Indian artist to be complimented by Leonardo DiCaprio. I felt very sad that I pronounced his surname in a very different way." She recalled, "In one of my interviews, I pronounced Leonardo DiCaprio as 'Di Kebrio'. After that, I met him and he met me very sweetly and complimented me."
DiCaprio's Reserved Nature
The actress further claimed that many people close to Leonardo DiCaprio have often said that the actor is not someone who easily meets people or clicks pictures with everyone. "A lot of people who know him say that he doesn't like meeting people, he doesn't click pictures with anyone," she shared.
Emotional Guilt
Urvashi admitted that after meeting him, she felt extremely emotional and guilty about the pronunciation mistake. "That was a moment in my life when I felt very sad, upset and very guilty that here I am meeting this person after saying his surname incorrectly," she said. She added, "I just really hope that he never watches that interview of mine in which I am pronouncing his surname in a very bad manner."
Hope DiCaprio Never Sees the Interview
When the interviewer asked whether she had shared this with DiCaprio, Urvashi quickly replied, "I don't even want him to see it. Absolutely not."
