Ving Rhames, renowned for his portrayal of Luther Stickell in Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible' film series, reportedly collapsed while dining at a restaurant in Los Angeles. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, as per TMZ, when the 66-year-old actor was enjoying a meal with his family.
A witness told the outlet that Rhames suddenly collapsed at the table and appeared to drift in and out of consciousness. Paramedics were called and rushed him to a hospital for medical attention. The Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed receiving a 'medical aid call' at approximately 1:40 pm for a man in his 60s, who was subsequently transported to a hospital.
Addressing concerns, a representative for Rhames later informed news outlets that the actor may have become “overheated” and is expected to make a full recovery. He remains under medical observation at the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Rhames is widely recognized for his role as Luther Stickell, opposite Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt, in all installments of the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise. His filmography also includes notable performances in Quentin Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' and the 1990 psychological horror film 'Jacob's Ladder'.
Further updates on his condition are awaited. Meanwhile, the 'Mission: Impossible' franchise made headlines earlier this year with rumors of another installment. Reports suggested that Tom Cruise is working on 'Mission: Impossible 9' and had sought out Oscar-winning writer-director Chloe Zhao to helm the project. Prior to this, many believed 'Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning' would be the final film for Cruise's protagonist.
