The HTM police station in Hisar has registered a First Information Report (FIR) following an alleged threatening phone call received by a YouTuber. The caller reportedly used abusive language, referred to the YouTuber with derogatory terms, and threatened him with serious consequences.
Details of the Incident
The case was initiated based on a complaint filed by a group of individuals. According to the complaint, YouTuber Vipin Khurana received a phone call on June 2 from a mobile number. During the conversation, the caller allegedly used abusive language, called Khurana a 'refugee', and attempted to pressure him into stopping the broadcast of certain news reports. The caller also issued threats of harm to life and property.
Legal Action Taken
Acting on the complaint, the HTM police registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). These include Section 196(2) (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to the maintenance of harmony), Section 296 (obscene acts and songs), Section 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and Section 356(2) (defamation). An investigation has been initiated.
Additional Allegations
The memorandum further alleged that the caller made objectionable remarks about former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar during the conversation. The signatories of the complaint have urged the state government to ensure a fair and thorough investigation.
Police Response
Police officials have confirmed that the matter is under investigation. Further action will be taken based on the evidence collected during the probe. Authorities are examining the phone records and other digital evidence to identify the caller and ascertain the motives behind the threat.
