Choreographer and digital creator Zaid Darbar is preparing to make his acting debut with the upcoming psychological thriller Fangirl. The series, which delves into themes of obsession, identity, and social media culture, represents a significant new direction in Darbar’s career. As the son of renowned music composer Ismail Darbar, Zaid has primarily been recognized for his work as a choreographer and content creator. In Fangirl, he portrays Karan, an influencer whose public persona starkly contrasts with his private reality.
Transition to Acting
Speaking about the shift to acting, Darbar emphasized the need to develop a different set of skills. "As a performer and choreographer, I’ve always connected with storytelling through movement, but acting demands processing emotions in a different way. For Fangirl, I’ve been working on understanding my character, observing people, and learning the technical aspects of acting," he explained.
Balancing Dual Careers
According to Zaid, acting is something he intends to pursue alongside choreography, though he acknowledges that balancing both fields may be challenging. He remains committed to honing his craft in both disciplines, recognizing the unique demands of each.
Support from Gauahar Khan
His actress wife, Gauahar Khan, is excited about his move into acting and his decision to explore a new area of work. "We both understand the demands of this industry, so supporting each other’s ambitions comes naturally to us," she shared. The couple, known for their strong bond, continues to encourage each other's professional growth.
Fangirl promises to offer a gripping narrative that resonates with contemporary audiences, and Zaid Darbar’s performance is highly anticipated as he steps into this new role.
