Guwahati: Singer Zubeen Garg's wife Garima Saikia Garg on Tuesday expressed full confidence in the prosecution team, asserting that an accused being put behind bars indicates they have committed a crime. Her statement came days after the wife of accused Shymankanu Mahanta claimed he had been imprisoned for seven months without fault.
Court Reserves Order on Bail Pleas
The fast track court hearing the case has reserved its order on the bail plea of Zubeen's manager Siddharth Sharma, also an accused in the singer's death case, until May 2. The court will pronounce the judgment on Mahanta's bail plea on April 30.
Accused's Wife Speaks Out
On April 22, Shymankanu's wife Anita Deka Mahanta stated, "The great soul of Zubeen will feel pain seeing this. We will get justice. Zubeen had trust in Shyamkanu."
Garima's Response
Reacting to Anita's statement, Garima told media outside the court, "If they have been put behind the bars, then they must have committed something. Our prosecution team is strong. We have faith in the prosecution team and we are optimistic of getting justice." She added, "Zubeen's big mistake was that he believed and loved everyone. Now, we have seen the faces and understood the mistake."
