In a powerful address in Dumraon, Buxar, celebrated Bhojpuri singer Bharat Sharma Vyas launched a scathing critique against the escalating trend of double-meaning Holi songs within the Bhojpuri music industry. Speaking at an event organized by the J P Memorial Charitable Trust on Monday, Vyas asserted that such vulgar compositions have inflicted severe damage on both the Bhojpuri language and the broader societal fabric.

Vyas emphasized that Bhojpuri is a respected and melodious language with deep cultural roots, and it should never be tainted by obscenity. He stated, "Aslil Bhojpuri ganon ne Bhojpuri bhasha aur samaj ka bahut nuksan kiya hai", translating to "vulgar Bhojpuri songs have caused immense harm to the language and society." According to him, these songs are eroding the rich heritage and traditions of the Bhojpuri region, undermining its cultural identity.
Call for Action and Boycott
The singer made a fervent appeal to both society and government authorities to take decisive steps against this issue. He urged a collective boycott of vulgar songs and advocated for stringent measures to curb the proliferation of obscene content masquerading as entertainment. Vyas highlighted that artists bear a significant responsibility to promote clean and meaningful music that uplifts rather than degrades.
