This December, the historic city of Bhopal will resonate with the soulful strains of classical music and fusion rhythms. The much-awaited 8th edition of the Hriday Drishyam festival is set to begin, transforming the city's most poetic and heritage-rich locations into vibrant stages for a celebration of melody and emotion.
A Musical Journey Through Bhopal's Heritage Venues
The three-day festival will unfold across iconic venues, each adding its unique historical ambiance to the performances. The musical journey commences on 5th December at Ravindra Bhavan. The following day, on 6th December, the spotlight shifts to the enchanting garden-palace, Chaman Mahal in Jagdishpur. The festival will culminate on 7th December at the renowned Bharat Bhavan.
Imagine the sandstone arches of an 18th-century palace illuminated under warm lights as the profound notes of sarod and sitar fill the air. Picture the serene, murmuring gardens of a Mughal-era mahal echoing with the harmonious dialogue of flute and tabla. For these three days, Bhopal's typically calm atmosphere will transform into the pulsing heart of musical harmony.
Stellar Lineup of Maestros and Virtuosos
The festival boasts a powerful ensemble of India's finest musical talents, promising an unforgettable auditory experience. The lineup includes the legendary flautist Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia and the sarod brilliance of brothers Amaan Ali Bangash and Ayaan Ali Bangash. Sitar genius Pandit Ravi Chary and soulful vocalist Madhubanti Bagchi will further elevate the classical purity.
The rhythmic foundation will be laid by tabla virtuoso Pandit Aditya Kalyanpur and global percussion legend V. Selvaganesh. Together, these artists are ready to guide the audience on a profound journey through classical traditions, innovative fusion, and spiritually uplifting soundscapes.
A Feast for the Senses: Food, Crafts, and Logistics
Beyond music, the festival offers a rich cultural immersion. A major attraction will be the traditional food and art-craft fair held at Chaman Mahal. This fair provides a golden opportunity for music lovers to savor the diverse culinary heritage of Madhya Pradesh.
Attendees can indulge in regional specialties from Malwa, Bundelkhand, Nimar, and Baghelkhand, along with unique tribal cuisines and local delicacies that are popular across India and the globe. The fair will also showcase and offer for sale stunning handicrafts created by talented artists from Madhya Pradesh, supporting local artisans.
For the convenience of attendees traveling to the Jagdishpur event on 6th December, the organizers have arranged a free bus service. The bus will depart from Ravindra Bhavan at 4 pm, as confirmed by an official. This thoughtful initiative ensures easy access to the historic Chaman Mahal venue for a seamless festival experience.
