Bahraini Rapper Flipperachi Withdraws From Indian Music Festival Over Regional Tensions
Flipperachi, the Bahraini hip-hop artist who captured Indian audiences with his track FA9LA featured in the spy thriller Dhurandhar, has been forced to cancel his scheduled performances at the upcoming UN40 Music & Beyond Festival in India. The cancellation is directly attributed to the ongoing geopolitical situation in the Middle East, which has created significant travel complications for the artist.
Official Announcement and Festival Statement
Saregama India, the event's partner, shared the official update via an Instagram post, confirming that Flipperachi will not be able to travel to India for the festival this weekend. The festival organizers subsequently released a detailed statement online, expressing their disappointment while acknowledging the unavoidable circumstances.
The statement read: "In light of the current situation in the Middle East and Bahrain, Flipperachi will not be able to perform at UN40 this weekend. While we were excited to have him on the lineup, the circumstances make it difficult for him to travel at this time. We continue to look forward to an amazing weekend of performances and unforgettable moments at UN40."
The organizers emphasized that despite this last-minute change, the festival will proceed as planned with a robust lineup of artists and numerous experiences scheduled across the weekend.
Event Details and Additional Cancellation
The UN40 Music & Beyond Festival is set to take place at the NICE Grounds in Bengaluru on March 14 and 15. The event will feature prominent artists including Himesh Reshammiya, Talwiinder, and Raja Kumari, among others. In addition to the festival cancellation, Flipperachi's separate Mumbai performance has also been called off.
The rapper was scheduled to perform at Phoenix Marketcity in Mumbai on March 13. The event listing on District.in currently shows the show as cancelled. As of now, Flipperachi has not issued an independent statement regarding the Mumbai performance cancellation.
Artist's Previous Excitement and Connection to India
Earlier, while announcing his Indian shows, Flipperachi had expressed tremendous enthusiasm about performing for his Indian fanbase. He stated: "India has shown me incredible love, and Mumbai is a city I've always wanted to perform in. The energy, the people, the culture, it all feels very familiar. This show is going to be loud, emotional and unforgettable. Mumbai, get ready."
The artist's connection to India deepened significantly after his track FA9LA became a viral sensation. The high-energy song gained massive popularity after being used as the background score for Akshaye Khanna's entry scene in the Netflix film Dhurandhar. The track quickly amassed millions of streams on social media and music platforms, emerging as one of the most memorable musical moments from the film's soundtrack.
This development highlights how international geopolitical events can directly impact cultural exchanges and entertainment schedules, affecting artists and audiences alike. The festival organizers remain committed to delivering a successful event while fans express disappointment over missing Flipperachi's anticipated live performance.
