YouTube Music 2025 Recap Begins with AI Chat & Musical Passport
YouTube Music 2025 Recap is now live

The much-anticipated year-end music wrap-up season has officially kicked off, with YouTube Music leading the charge. The platform has begun rolling out the YouTube Music 2025 Recap, offering users a personalized and deep dive into their audio consumption habits over the past twelve months.

What's New in the 2025 Recap?

While the feature provides the standard statistics that users have come to expect, such as top artists and albums, the 2025 edition introduces exciting innovations. This year's Recap distinguishes itself with two major additions: a new 'Musical Passport' and an interactive AI-powered chat feature.

The update is currently appearing for users across both iOS and Android devices. Reports from users on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit confirm that a wide rollout is underway. However, not every user has received their Recap yet. For instance, some members of The Times of India tech team reported not seeing the pop-up or finding access via the Settings menu.

AI Insights and a Global Musical Journey

Staying true to its story-like format, the 2025 Recap is optimized for easy sharing on social media. Beyond the usual metrics of total listening time and top genres, YouTube has integrated generative AI. The app now features an 'Ask anything about your 2025' tool, allowing users to chat with an AI assistant. This provides specific, personalised commentary and insights into their unique listening trends for the year.

The new Musical Passport feature visually represents the global reach of a user's musical taste. It highlights the countries from which their most-played artists originate. Furthermore, the Recap now comprehensively covers podcast habits, compiling a user's top shows and total minutes listened. Every data card within the Recap can be downloaded individually for sharing across various social media platforms.

How to Access Your YouTube Music 2025 Recap

If the feature has been activated on your account, you will likely see a prominent banner on the app's home screen. If you don't see the banner, you can try to access it manually by following these simple steps:

  1. Open the YouTube Music app on your Android or iOS device.
  2. Tap on your profile photo located in the top corner of the screen.
  3. Select 'Your Recap' from the menu that appears.
  4. Tap 'Get your Recap' to begin the immersive story presentation.

If you still cannot see your Recap, you may be facing eligibility issues. YouTube has set specific data thresholds and settings requirements for the feature to generate. These include:

  • Users must have clocked at least 10 hours of music listening time between January 1 and November 10, 2025. Additionally, a minimum of 4 hours of listening per season is required.
  • To view the podcast section, users need a minimum of 2 hours of podcast listening time during the same period.
  • If your YouTube watch history was paused at any time during the eligibility period, that data will not be counted.
  • Users who have their Google activity auto-delete settings set to 3 months may not be eligible, as the system requires older data to compile a full-year report.
