The hit Hulu mystery comedy 'Only Murders in the Building' is set to return for a sixth season, bringing together a large ensemble of British and Irish actors as the investigation moves to London. Stars Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez will reprise their roles as Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam, and Mabel Mora, respectively. The amateur sleuths will leave New York behind after a deadly cliffhanger opens a case linked to England. Production is currently underway in the United Kingdom, though Hulu has yet to announce a release date.
Season 6 Cast Expands with Notable Additions
According to The TV Cave, the recurring guest cast has grown to 20 actors. Deadline has confirmed that David Tennant, Jodie Whittaker, Nicola Coughlan, Jim Broadbent, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, and Kathryn Hunter have joined the new season. This lineup unites two former 'Doctor Who' leads, Tennant and Whittaker, and brings together two stars from 'Bridgerton' in Coughlan and Simone Ashley.
Other confirmed guest stars include Jennifer Saunders, Martin Freeman, Jamie Demetriou, Sharon Horgan, Derek Jacobi, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Lesley Nicol, Sean Teale, Amar Chadha-Patel, and Rhea Norwood. Their specific roles and connections to the murder remain undisclosed. Michael Cyril Creighton is set to return as Howard Morris, and Da'Vine Joy Randolph is expected to reprise her role as Detective Donna Williams, following the trio across the Atlantic.
London Mystery Follows Cinda Canning's Cliffhanger
Season 5 concluded with rival true-crime podcaster Cinda Canning, portrayed by Tina Fey, becoming the apparent victim of the next murder. Her final storyline contained clues tied to England, prompting Charles, Oliver, and Mabel to take their investigation overseas. The sixth season will consist of 10 episodes and shift much of the action away from the Arconia, the Manhattan apartment building central to the first five seasons. London will serve as the main production base for the upcoming case.
Tina Fey is set to appear again despite Cinda's fate, though the series has not revealed whether the character will be featured through flashbacks or another narrative device. Hulu renewed 'Only Murders in the Building' for Season 6 following the fifth-season finale in October 2025. Filming began in London in May 2026. All five completed seasons are currently available to stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in various international markets.
