Film enthusiasts, especially fans of Tamil cinema, have a special treat lined up for this holiday season. The comedy-thriller Revolver Rita, starring Keerthy Suresh, is making a swift transition from the silver screen to digital streaming, marking one of the fastest post-theatrical OTT releases for a Tamil film recently.
Revolver Rita OTT Release: Platform and Date Confirmed
According to an official announcement, the streaming giant Netflix has secured the digital rights for the film. Revolver Rita will begin streaming on Netflix from December 26. The platform made the announcement via an Instagram post, stating, “Rita becomes Revolver Rita if you mess with her family ?? Watch Revolver Rita on Netflix out 26 December.”
The movie, which had a theatrical release on November 28, will be available for online viewing in multiple South Indian languages. It will stream in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam. However, there is no confirmation on a Hindi dub release as of now, leaving Hindi-speaking audiences in suspense about if and when they will get to watch it.

Revolver Rita is directed by JK Chandru and follows the story of Rita, a young woman living with her mother and sisters. The plot takes a wild turn when a drunk gangster intrudes into their lives. In a twist of events, the family ends up killing the gangster, and the narrative then revolves around their frantic attempts to cover up the crime and hide the body. The situation escalates with the introduction of another gang, leading to a chaotic mix of confusion, mystery, and comedy.
The film features a notable cast including Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Sarathkumar, Sunil, and Redin Kingsley. While Keerthy Suresh's lively performance was widely praised by critics and audiences alike, the film itself received mixed to negative reviews on social media platforms.

Despite the mixed reviews, Revolver Rita managed a decent box office run. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film grossed approximately ₹4.76 crore worldwide, with a net collection of around ₹3.99 crore.
Its quick shift to an OTT platform within a few weeks of its theatrical run highlights a growing trend for mid-sized films. This Christmas weekend on OTT is quite packed, with other titles like Andhra King Taluka, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, and Goodbye June also scheduled for release, offering a diverse platter for streaming audiences.
