Veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni and his production banner, Annapurna Studios, have officially responded to the ongoing conflict between the Producers Guild and the Telangana Exhibitors Association. The studio released a formal statement on social media, making its stance clear on the matter.
Official Statement from the Production Banner
The statement read: "Annapurna Studios firmly stands by the interests of the film industry and wishes to clarify that Annapurna Studios Distribution will continue to abide by the decisions of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) and adhere to its guidelines." The studio further added, "This has been our consistent practice over the years, and it will remain so in the future."
Owned by Nagarjuna, Annapurna Studios is one of the largest production and distribution companies in Telugu cinema. The studio's statement underscores its commitment to industry regulations and its long-standing relationship with key film bodies.
Strong Connections with Film Bodies
According to a Deccan Chronicle report, Annapurna Studios and its team are members of both the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce and the Active Producers Guild. They have also supported discussions aimed at reducing costs within the film industry. As a result, the studio is striving to maintain balance amid the ongoing dispute between producers and exhibitors.
It is also reported that the studio plans to acquire more content-driven films and bring them to Telugu audiences in the coming months. Additionally, Annapurna Studios shares a long-standing relationship with exhibitor and distributor Suniel Narang of Asian Cinemas. Due to this connection, the company is said to be handling the situation carefully without taking extreme sides.
At the same time, the studio has become more active in film distribution. It is releasing Tamil star Suriya's film 'Karuppu' under the title 'Veerabhadrudu' in the Telugu states. The studio is also preparing to distribute the Kannada film 'Bala The Boy' in June.
