Shane Nigam's 'Haal' Makers Back Govt Ban, Atif Aslam Song Blocked
Haal Makers Support Govt Ban, Atif Aslam Song Blocked

The production team of the upcoming Malayalam film 'Haal,' starring Shane Nigam, has publicly stated its support for the central government's directive to block content originating from Pakistan. This clarification came as a response to fans inquiring about the absence of a song sung by Pakistani singer Atif Aslam on digital platforms.

Official Statement Clarifies Song's Unavailability

Addressing the situation directly, the director of 'Haal' posted an official note on Instagram. The statement thanked fans for their patience and acknowledged the excitement surrounding Atif Aslam's involvement. It clearly attributed the song's unavailability to a prevailing government directive that requires streaming platforms to restrict access to content from Pakistan.

The note further read, "We know this isn’t easy and truly appreciate your understanding and support. It's also our time to stand with our nation." The makers assured that they would inform the audience of any future updates regarding the song's release, which is contingent on the ban being lifted.

Atif Aslam's Debut Track and Censor Board Hurdles

The blocked song, titled 'Hijr,' was confirmed to be Atif Aslam's debut track for Malayalam cinema. Music director Nandhagopan V had previously praised the singer's artistry. The film's team revealed that an alternative version of the same song, performed by Ankit Tiwari, will feature in the final cut of the movie.

This is not the first legal challenge faced by 'Haal.' The film earlier encountered objections from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which demanded cuts, including a scene depicting beef biryani. The producers challenged this decision in the High Court.

A Single Bench struck down four of the cuts suggested by the CBFC, and subsequent appeals were dismissed. The film eventually secured a UA 16+ certificate, clearing its path for theatrical release.

Final Release Details

After overcoming all regulatory and legal obstacles, the romantic drama 'Haal' is finally set for a theatrical release on December 25. Directed by debutant Veeraa and written by Nishad Koya, the film stars Shane Nigam alongside debutante Sakshi Vaidya.

The supporting cast includes notable actors like Johny Antony, Joy Mathew, and Madhupal. The film's music is composed by Nandhagopan V.
