Moi Virundhu Filming Unfolds in Picturesque Kodaikanal with Star-Studded Cast

The scenic hill station of Kodaikanal has become the backdrop for the shooting of the upcoming film Moi Virundhu. Production has been actively taking place at unique locations, including a functioning printing press and a bank that was creatively converted from a hospital building. Local villagers gathered in the cool, pleasant weather to witness the filming process, adding to the authentic atmosphere on set.

Ensemble Cast Shares Excitement About Their Roles and On-Set Experience

The film features an ensemble cast including veteran actress Archana, VJ-turned-actor Rakshan, and actress Ayesha, among others. Each actor has expressed enthusiasm about their characters and the overall project.

Actress Ayesha revealed details about her role, stating, "I play a bubbly and cute village girl named Revathy, who works in a printing press. She is quite similar to the real me. Since Rakshan and I are already friends, I was excited to pair with him. I'm grateful to work with Archana ma'am. She is very dedicated. The climate has been great, and the vibe on set is friendly."

Rakshan, who portrays a bank employee in the film, shared his perspective on this new role. "I've usually done city-oriented roles. But in Moi Virundhu, I'm acting as a playful village boy who falls in love with a girl. When the director narrated the one-liner, I found it very interesting. And any actor would want to work on a project in which Sukumar sir is the DOP. I'm also happy that I got to shoot in Kodaikanal. It feels like heaven," he explained.

Director CR Manikandan Explains Film's Cultural Theme and Character Naming

Director CR Manikandan provided insights into the film's plot and symbolic elements. "Today, we shot portions at a printing press and a bank. Moi Virundhu is a practice in which a family seeking financial help hosts a feast for the entire village. In return, the guests offer them money. Archana ma'am's character's ancestors introduced this tradition to the village the film is set in. Rakshan and Ayesha's characters fall in love in the film. Their characters are intentionally named Karthik and Revathy after the real-life actors," he disclosed.

Archana Discusses Unique Transformation and Cultural Significance

Veteran actress Archana highlighted the cultural importance of the film and her distinctive portrayal. "Moi Virundhu is a film that highlights our culture. Everyone in the village approaches my character, Seetha, for medical help. My getup is very different in the film. This is the first time that I'm putting on such a get-up ever since my entry into films. I've also explored a different slang. I immediately said yes to the film because I really liked the script and its cultural relevance," she emphasized.

The production continues to generate buzz as it combines traditional themes with contemporary storytelling, all set against the breathtaking landscapes of Kodaikanal.
