Rajiv Gandhi assassination convict Perarivalan becomes advocate

Chennai: A G Perarivalan, a life convict who served three decades in prison for his involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was enrolled as an advocate on Monday.

Release and Legal Education

Perarivalan was released by the Supreme Court on May 18, 2022. Following his release, he joined a private law college in Karnataka and successfully completed the law course.

Enrollment Ceremony

He was enrolled as an advocate during a function conducted by the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at the High Court auditorium. The event featured a special address on 'Professional Ethics and Etiquette' delivered by Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari.

P S Amalraj, Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, welcomed the gathering. S Prabakaran, Senior Advocate and Vice-Chairman of the Bar Council of India, felicitated the new entrants.

C K Chandrasekkar, Advocate, moved the enrollment motion, while K Balu, Chairman of the Enrollment Committee, administered the oath. J Priscilla Pandian, Member of the Enrollment Committee, delivered the vote of thanks.
