A biographical film based on the life of Bharat Ratna awardee and legendary Carnatic singer MS Subbulakshmi is currently in development. According to recent buzz, actress Rashmika Mandanna is being considered to portray the iconic singer in the upcoming biographical drama.
Rashmika Mandanna reportedly underwent look test
According to a report by 123Telugu, Rashmika Mandanna has been selected for the lead role. It is also being said that a look test was recently conducted at her residence as part of the preparation process. The film is reportedly being directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who is known for the critically acclaimed film ‘Jersey’. However, the makers have not yet made any official announcement regarding the project or its cast.
Earlier reports mentioned other actresses
Before Rashmika Mandanna’s name surfaced, there were reports that actress Rukmini Vasanth had been brought on board for the role. Those reports claimed that she would replace Sai Pallavi in the project. Earlier this year, Sai Pallavi’s name was strongly linked to the biopic. Reports suggested that she would play the title role and had even started preparing for the character by learning Carnatic vocals and studying footage related to MS Subbulakshmi’s life and career.
